Saga the Bard Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 17, 2026
Saga the Bard is operated by Corey Buckner, operating as Saga the Bard ("we", "us"). Contact us about privacy at support@sagathebard.com. This policy describes how we handle information when you visit our website, sign in, subscribe, share access, or use Saga in Discord.
What Saga listens to
Saga receives speech from participants in the Discord voice channel it has joined, including participants who do not have a Saga subscription. Speech is used to choose music and produce a session recap. An approved-user list controls who can invoke Saga; it does not limit whose voice Saga can hear in that channel.
Tell everyone in the channel before bringing Saga in, and obtain any consent required where you and the participants live. Saga should not be used to secretly monitor people or to process conversations they have not agreed to share. Avoid including passwords, payment details, health information, or other sensitive personal information in recorded sessions.
Information we process
- Discord account information: your Discord user ID and, when you sign in to the website, your Discord username and display name. Website sign-in uses Discord's identity permission; it does not request your friend list.
- Shared-access information: which subscriber approved which users, invitation creation/expiry and acceptance information, and changes to access. Share invitation links privately: anyone with an unused link can accept the invitation before it expires or is revoked.
- Session information: server and voice-channel identifiers, session timing, speech-to-text transcripts, capture gaps, music playback history, generated recaps, and relevant music feedback. Names and other personal information spoken during a game may appear in transcripts and recaps.
- Subscription information: Stripe customer/subscription references, payment-verification information, billing periods, access status, and usage totals. Stripe handles payment entry; Saga's account application does not collect full card numbers or card security codes.
- Website and operational information: browser requests, IP addresses in web-server logs, error/security information, and essential sign-in/session cookies. We use operational records to maintain the service, troubleshoot problems and address security incidents.
How we use information
We use information to authenticate users, verify subscriptions, meter session usage, manage shared access, select appropriate music, generate and deliver recaps, troubleshoot problems, prevent misuse, and maintain reliable billing and delivery records.
Saga can use session music feedback to improve future music selection. Campaign-specific names, free-text associations and supporting evidence are kept within the server-scoped catalog records. Controlled generic musical tags and aggregate song feedback can affect the shared music library. This is distinct from training a general-purpose language model.
Services involved
The current service uses:
- Discord: sign-in, user identity, bot commands, voice transport, and delivery of recaps to the originating voice channel's text chat.
- Soniox: streaming speech-to-text processing of voice audio.
- TypeSafe/Jev: scene and music classification using recent transcript excerpts and music metadata.
- DeepInfra: processing session transcripts and music context to generate recaps and identify music feedback.
- Stripe: checkout, subscription and payment management, and payment verification.
- Hosting and backup infrastructure: operating the website/bot and storing service records and backups.
These providers process information to supply their services under their applicable terms and privacy policies. Processing may take place outside your country. Our local retention schedule does not by itself control provider retention. We will update this notice when our service providers or data practices materially change. Provider notices: Discord, Soniox, DeepInfra, Stripe. You can contact us for information about the processing relevant to your session.
Recap visibility and sharing
Recaps are posted as files in the original voice channel's text chat. Anyone who can access that Discord channel may be able to read, download, copy, or forward them. The person paying for Saga is not necessarily the only person who can see a recap. Check your server permissions before use.
We also disclose information to service providers needed to run Saga, when legally required, or when reasonably necessary to address security, fraud, or abuse. We do not sell, rent, or trade customer personal information to any third party—for advertising or any other purpose. We do not share personal information for targeted advertising. Necessary disclosures to the service providers described above are separate from selling data or sharing it for advertising.
Retention
Saga streams voice audio for transcription rather than keeping a local archive of raw session audio. Third-party processing is subject to provider terms.
Transcripts, recap artifacts, music-feedback evidence, delivery receipts and subscription records are stored by Saga. Canceling a subscription does not automatically delete those records or copies of recaps already delivered to Discord.
Our routine retention targets are 30 days for transcripts and identifiable music-feedback evidence, and 90 days for stored recap PDFs, after a session has ended and processing is complete. Automated cleanup checks run hourly for sessions created after the retention system was introduced on September 30, 2026. Cleanup may take longer if processing is unresolved, a safety check fails, or records are subject to a specific legal obligation. Earlier test-session records are reviewed separately rather than deleted indiscriminately. You may request earlier deletion or ask about records associated with you.
Backups are restricted operational copies. We target a rolling 90-day backup period; some earlier or manually maintained archives may remain pending review. Removable backups cannot be physically cleaned while disconnected, so cleanup occurs when the storage is available. Deleted information in backups is not used for routine service operations. Applicable deletion restrictions must be reapplied before restored session data is used.
Subscription, billing, delivery and security records may be retained as needed to administer accounts, reconcile payments, resolve disputes, protect the service and meet legal obligations. We assess these records separately; those purposes do not justify retaining unrelated transcript content indefinitely. Minimal session identifiers and deletion records may remain to prevent deleted content from being processed again.
Copies already delivered to Discord, or downloaded by participants, are not controlled by this retention schedule. We may preserve specific records longer where legally required.
Your choices and requests
You can sign out of the website, manage your subscription, revoke pending invitations, and remove approved users. Removing an approved user ends their authorization to use your subscription; it does not erase past transcripts or Discord messages.
Contact support@sagathebard.com to request access to, correction of, or deletion of information associated with you. We verify requests and identify the relevant account, server, session and records before taking action. Deletion is scoped to the information the requester is entitled to have removed; it must not expose or unnecessarily delete other participants' information. Where shared transcripts contain information about several people, redaction or another appropriately scoped response may be necessary. Some billing, dispute, security, or legally required records may need to be retained. Copies held by other participants or by Discord may need separate removal requests.
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your information, object to or restrict certain processing, withdraw consent, or complain to a privacy regulator. Contact us to exercise applicable rights; we will verify the request proportionately and respond within applicable legal time limits. Withdrawing consent does not change the lawfulness of earlier processing. We do not penalize you for exercising applicable privacy rights.
Where a legal basis is required, account and subscription processing supports providing the requested service; security and reliability processing supports our legitimate operational interests, subject to applicable rights; legal records support our legal obligations. Voice participants must be informed and any legally required consent obtained before Saga joins. We will assess requests and processing requirements for the relevant jurisdiction rather than treating Discord eligibility as consent to all processing.
Optional website measurement
We want to know which ads help people discover Saga, not build a profile of you. If you allow measurement, we count page views, demo plays, sign-ins and new paid subscriptions by campaign. We run this measurement ourselves, without ad-platform pixels or tracking you across other websites.
Your choice is remembered for 180 days. If you agree, a separate cookie holds only campaign labels for up to 24 hours. During checkout, we temporarily connect those labels to the payment in server memory for up to 30 minutes, then discard that connection. Saved measurement records contain campaign labels and events, not your name, email, account ID, IP address or device fingerprint. We delete measurement events after 90 days.
Choose No thanks to leave optional measurement off, or change your choice below. We also respect browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals. Your choice does not affect Saga's features. Essential sign-in cookies and ordinary operational logs described elsewhere in this policy are separate.
Cookies and account security
The account site uses essential cookies to keep you signed in and protect your account. These sessions expire, and you may occasionally need to sign in again. We use access controls and protected credential storage, but no service can guarantee absolute security.
Age, location and updates
Saga is intended for eligible Discord users in countries where the service may lawfully be offered, and is not directed to children under 13. Users must meet Discord's minimum age requirement for their country and any higher age required by applicable law. Users under 18 must have permission from a parent or legal guardian. Parental permission does not waive a minimum-age requirement.
The person inviting Saga must ensure that all participants know their speech will be processed, including participants who are not subscribers. If you believe Saga has processed a child's information contrary to these requirements, contact us at support@sagathebard.com.
Information may be processed in countries where our hosting and other providers operate, which may have different privacy laws. Contact us for details relevant to your use, including applicable transfer arrangements. We will not treat this notice as a waiver of protections required by applicable law.
We will update this policy when data handling changes and identify the current effective date. Material changes will be communicated as appropriate.
